Austrian Grand Prix: Johann Zarco finishes 9th in Saturday’s Sprint

CASTROL Honda LCR rider Johann Zarco secured a 9th-place finish in Saturday’s Sprint at the Spielberg Circuit.

• After a demanding qualifying session, the Frenchman lined up 12th on the grid but remained fully focused on recovering positions and achieving the best possible outcome.
• At the start, Zarco reacted quickly, gained positions in the opening laps, and demonstrated determination and consistency while carefully managing the race.
• Throughout the Sprint, he found a solid rhythm, avoided mistakes, and was able to maintain a competitive pace against his closest rivals.
• At the chequered flag, Zarco crossed the line in 9th position, earning points and gathering useful data for Sunday’s Grand Prix.

“I was really disappointed this morning after the crashes, also with myself. But we managed to turn the situation around and analyze the limits of our bike. I calmed down and tried to make the most of our potential, taking it easy for the Sprint. Given the high track temperatures, we believed in the medium rear tyre. I’m happy that the way we’ve been working proved that the medium was the right choice for us. Scoring points was important, and I also took the opportunity to analyze everything ahead of tomorrow’s race. Tomorrow, we’ll aim for a strong start, push hard, give our best, and fight for the best possible result.”
